The date is November the 10th. We’ve already had our fist snowfall of the season. The leaves are almost all off the trees. It’s not really prime wearing shorts and flipflops while sipping on a smoothie weather, but bottom line is that smoothies are delicious, and such a great way to eat healthy, vitamin enriched good foods.
This smoothie is one I threw together, wanting to find a good combo to include Hillside’s fresh celery. Why put celery in a smoothie? Well celery is a great source of antioxidants and beneficial enzymes. It also contains Vitamin C and is and excellent source of fiber. And while gnawing on celery stalks isn’t fun for lots of people, if you blend them up, mix it with some other fruits and veggies, add some vanilla Greek yogurt- voila! It’s much easier to eat (and so much more yum!). So without further ado , here is the recipe I used for this yummy Go-Green Smoothie.
Ingredients:
-2 stalks of celery
-1 cup spinach
-1/2 cup frozen blueberries (or to taste.. it wouldn’t hurt the smoothie to add more)
-3/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
-A few ice cubes (don’t add two many or it will taste water-y)
Directions:
Add all ingredients together and blend on high until well combined and smooth. Feel free to play around with ingredients adding more or less of something until you have the perfect combination for your taste. Pour into a cup and enjoy! This recipe makes enough for two small smoothies or one large one for yourself 🙂
